One needs only to look into the eyes of artist D. Arthur to find the wit and humor that so easily is transformed into the whimsy and uniqueness that is Rhupert. A style uniquely his own, Arthur has mastered the pastel medium into a presentation unlike any other. The son of an artist, Arthur was drawn to the simplicity and honesty of the animal kingdom at the budding age of three, and his first masterpieces were born from the inspiration of the Davey Crocket magazines.
Self-taught, this artist has spanned the globe with his recognizable style for over 25 years. Beginning as a quick-sketch portrait artist traveling coast to coast, Arthur made his mark with over 4000 portraits before his head gave way to his heart to follow his newly discovered passion for the “Wild-er Kingdom”. During this artistic exploration, an individual commission to depict several ostriches and numerous ostriches later, brought forth the delightful character known as ‘Rhupert’.
Arthur’s commitment to follow his heart led him to the beginning of a new era in his own growth – Rhupert and all that that entails. From self-discovery to traveling the world, Rhupert is the exemplification of all that is true, possible and preposterous; a daily discovery into the simple joy of being..
Currently, Arthur’s work is exhibited throughout the world in private collections and galleries. The artist lives in Hot Springs, Arkansas with his wife, Lisa, their four sons and two beloved dogs.
Arthur states: “One of the most challenging undertakings a person can face, is to find out who you are, be who you are and then share who you are!”
